Photo Calorie Counter — snap your plate, get calories & macros
Journey (journey.lavit.io) is a free AI photo calorie counter: take one photo of your plate and the AI estimates calories, protein, carbs and fat in seconds — no weighing, no digging through food tables. Nothing is saved to your diary until you approve the estimate, and the photo itself is analyzed and immediately discarded, never stored. The free plan includes the full food diary plus 15 AI meal estimates a month, and it works today in any browser and free on Android.
How it works
- Open Journey in any browser at journey.lavit.io — nothing to install — or get the free Android app. Sign in with Google (used only for sign-in; Journey does not read your Gmail).
- Snap a photo of your meal. One photo of the plate is enough — no barcode, no weighing.
- AI reads the plate and returns an estimate card in seconds: calories plus the macros — protein, carbs and fat.
- Review the card and edit anything — portion, items, numbers. Nothing is saved until you confirm.
- Approve, and the meal lands in your diary. The photo is discarded the moment analysis ends — it is never stored on Journey's servers.
Prefer typing? Chat logging works in plain language, in any language: "toast with avocado and an egg" — that's a log.

Questions & answers
How accurate is a photo calorie counter?
AI estimates from a single photo are approximations, not measurements. Journey shows you the estimate card first — calories, protein, carbs and fat — and you can edit any number before saving. Per-language food databases calibrate estimates to local cuisine. Estimates are estimates, not medical or dietary advice.
Is Journey's photo calorie counter free?
Yes. The full food and training diary is free forever, and the free plan includes 15 AI meal estimates every month — photo or chat. No card, no trial that expires. Premium ($9.99/month or $59.99/year, launching soon) raises that to 20 AI estimates per day.
What happens to my food photos?
They are analyzed in memory and immediately discarded — never stored on Journey's servers. Nothing enters your diary until you confirm the estimate.
Can I log a meal without a photo?
Yes. Type it in plain language in any language — "toast with avocado and an egg" is a log. The AI chat understands any language, and manual diary entries are unlimited.
Does Journey work on iPhone?
Journey runs today in any browser, including Safari on iPhone, so photo logging works right now. A native iOS app is not available yet. On Android there is a free app on Google Play (io.lavit.journey).
What counts against the 15 monthly AI estimates?
Each AI meal estimate — whether from a photo or a chat message — uses one of the 15 monthly estimates on the free plan. Manual diary entries are unlimited and free forever.
Free to start — no card, no trial that expires.
